Joe Barton is the National Training Director of (aTs) Automotive Technical Service and is a Master Trainer certified in the NTTP. Joe became deeply involved with the automotive business in 1966 after a tour of military duty as an aircraft mechanic and crewman. Joe worked with McDonnell Aircraft in the space industry division as a design engineer where he was able to work with new technology as well as finish his education. His real focus became apparent when he graduated and taught as a student teacher at Bailey Technical Institute. Opening a small shop allowed him to work at his regular job during the day and repair cars at night. With the age of computer cars, his expertise was in demand, filling the gap of technicians knowledge. He trained as well as worked full time in his own shop. Joe was very instrumental in setting up ASA of Missouri and was the first state president, as well as the first president of the St. Charles, MO Chapter. Along with setting up state chapters, Joe has worked very hard behind the scenes to promote ASA. He set up the first training program for ASA in Missouri as well as training for other companies like Sun Electric, OTC, and St. Charles Community Collage. He then took a position as the Western National Training Manager for Snap-on Technical Training. His responsibilities included managing two thirds of the geographical US as well as Hawaii. He has since devoted his full time and energies to developing aTs into one of the largest national training organizations in the US. |
