Don (Mac) McDonald is the Training Manager for US Operations. Mac started his automotive career as a technician in his neighbors service station while attending high school. In 1965 and 1966 he attended Greer Technical Institute, in Chicago IL. Shortly after graduating at Greer, Mac enlisted for a 4-year tour of duty in the USAF, as a general-purpose automotive technician. Mac worked as a line technician and service manager at Ford, Chrysler and AMC dealerships before purchasing his own garage in 1973. A junior college in Texas recruited Mac to teach automotive mechanics in 1976. He taught automotive in the public school systems of Texas and Louisiana until 1992. That is when he was recruited by Snap-on Tools to train and sell automotive repair equipment. In 1993 Mac was moved to the home office in Kenosha Wisconsin to fill an open slot as an equipment trainer. One year later, 1994, he was asked to replace the opening left as manager of the equipment-training group that had been moved to Crystal Lake IL. At the same time Mac was given the additional responsibilities of National Training Manager for Snap-on Technical Training Systems. As the manager of the equipment-training group, its Macs responsibility to manage the equipment training of all new hire Tech Reps, manage the phone support of all Snap-on / Sun equipment applications, and manage the writing of a monthly in-house publication for Snap-ons equipment sales force. As Training manager for Snap-on Technical Training Systems, Mac is responsible for all facilities, inventories, national account business and continuing education. |
